Blackberry Calendar Won’t Sync Old Entries
One of our favorite clients had a problem on her Blackberry that had me absolutely stumped. Newly added calendar entries were syncing from BB to Outlook and vice versa, but all of a sudden on Sunday, all calendar entries had disappeared from Outlook. All settings checked OK, and re-pairing the device didn’t change anything. It seemed like the calendar entries were being stored on a different calendar that was somehow hidden from Outlook.
A little bit of research led me to this post in the Blackberry forums. I followed the advice of Cpt_Sweatpants:
…go to your calendar, press the menu button and select options. In the next screen you will see a list of all calendars on your BlackBerry. Do not select anything at this point. Type the word “move” on your keyboard. This should move all of your calendar appointments into your default calendar, therefore, allowing them all to synchronize.
I had high hopes for the strange “typing magical invisible letters” fix, but got nowhere, until I ran into this thread in the Crackberry forums. Based on the advice of CJ31 and others, I had her go to Settings > Options > Advanced Options > Service Books and delete any addresses that contained “CICAL”. A subsequent sync restored all entries (including 60-odd reminders).
So if your Crackberry isn’t playing nice with Outlook, try wiping the CICAL entries. (I’d recommend backing up your BB first, though. I’m not a BB expert – hell, I don’t even own one – so I don’t actually know what CICAL is/does.)
